Company Profile.
The beginnings of the Boccaccini company can be tracked back to 1959.It was founded as a small family business but from the first moment its production held a prominent position amongst the footwear designers of the Marche region thanks to the particularly sophisticated style and the use of precious materials such as ostrich, python and crocodile. This is why the product, from the start, is founded on a level of superior quality level and gives the company the opportunity to make itself well-known overseas. It was from this time that the big American buying groups opened up important licence collaborations.Throughout the Sixties and Seventies, Boccaccini`s footwear progressively conquered the European markets, the USA and the Far East. The company witnessed a crucial turning point in 1987 thanks to the capability and intuition of Alfredo Boccaccini.Having grown up in the `heart` of the Boccaccini company, he combined an intimate knowledge of the product with his own passion, creating the basis for the birth of a new collection under the brand L`Autre Chose, literally `the other thing` that summarises the concept of a clear difference, a different approach to the world of footwear. And so was born a modern concept of production coupled with a strong tradition in the footwear industry. The immediate results saw Barneys NY as the first buyer. And so followed collaborations with the `new big names` of the time: Patrick Cox, Martin Margiela, Alexander McQueen, Sartore and the German designer Eva Mann. Then followed collaborations with Max Mara and Ter et Bantine. In 1998 Michela Casadei, a designer from the world of ready-to-wear, arrived in the company. Thanks to her sensibility and stylistic knowledge, she brought L`Autre Chose a French taste: feminine, with particular attention to detail and the end product. L`Autre Chose found the right image, the alliance between a deep knowledge of the factory in terms of quality and product and the stylistic research of Michela.A rigorous policy of development, quality and punctual delivery, together with a deep knowledge of the market propelled L`Autre Chose into a strong growth in terms of image and distribution. The birth of another Collection under the brand Red in 1999, thanks to the collaboration with Dutch designer Fredie Stevens created another sophisticated brand of bohemian taste. Red Collection emphasises the importance of handmade shoes and rediscovers the artisan techniques of the quintessential’s English male shoe. The need to re-name the brand Red to Alf red springs from the need to underline the sophisticated process of a handmade product born from a stylistic need of Alfredo Boccaccini, always bound to the Red market. The birth of the Boccaccini Collection reflects back to the same period; a refined product, sober, elegant, on stiletto heels; a product representative of the Fifties and giving the company the possibility to reflect the history of the brand and to relive its origin.Another important turning point was the birth of a ready-to-wear Collection in Autumn/Winter 2005: a Collection on the same wavelength as the brand and created to fill the world L`Autre Chose. Many investments have been made by Boccaccini in recent years, not only in terms of quality and image but also in terms of management and human resources to focus on the needs of an ever developing market, able to value and approach new potential markets.Boccaccini as a company has a strong market in export.Department Stores like Neiman Marcus (Dallas - USA), Lane Crawford (Hong Kong), Joyce (Hong Kong), Barney`s (Tokyo), Isetan (Tokyo), Harrod`s (Uk), Barneys (New York) are the main example. In Italy: Tad (Rome and Milan), Nuyorica (Rome), Folli Follie (Verona - Mantova - Brescia), Space (Ravenna), Tassinari (Bologne). The three Collections are showed in Milan, at Showroom Boccaccini, Via della Spiga 42.
Spring/Summer ’08 Man/Woman Collection
Alfred ss 2008 trend is enriched by a dandy influence so it recalls a Britishlike elegance code.
The lasts have a classical inspiration such as the derby style and the loafer, with rounded toes and tapering uppers.
The basic materials are precious leathers, brushed calf, cuir and suede.
The colours range goes from the darker shades of brown to the strictness of black, beside strong colours as emerald green and aristocratic royal blue.
The theme of the collection is the revival of retro athmosphere typical of the sporting events at British colleges in the sixties, proposed through a derby shoes in leather combined to a check pattern canvas.
Some of the classical English shoes are also realised in women sizes, in order to continue the story of the brand Alfred.
The new Man Collection
The novelty for the next S/S ‘08 is an exclusive and selected collection of styles for man.
The new collection will be named ‘Alf red’ and is a natural derivation of Red.
Thanks to the successful co-operation with a Dutch designer since the end of the 90s Red has become a sophisticated, bohemian, manly collection with a constant link to the feminine universe.
The need for a clearer identity of the brand together with the change of its name from the next SS 07 were the prefect ingredients for the creation of a man shoe collection whose inspirational origins were the same as those of the woman collection. They are parallel though connected worlds motivated by the same designing contribution and showing the same clean but sophisticated taste which have made the previous Red collections.
