International supply sector demonstrates its powers of innovation: some 2,500 exhibitors in the field of “Parts & Systems”
European Co-operation Exchange - “europe autoparts” helps to create new business relationships
Sector optimistic in the face of increasing sales figures.
At Automechanika, the largest international trade fair for the automotive industry, more than half of a total of some 4,500 exhibitors will be presenting innovations in the field of parts and systems. “Parts and Systems” constitutes the largest product group at Automechanika and takes up almost the whole of the east wing of the Frankfurt Exhibition Centre. On show in Halls 1, 2, 3, 5, 6 and in the Forum will be vehicle parts and components from the transmission, running gear, assembly, electrical and electronic product groups together with the systems and modules from the product groups for interiors, exteriors, drive mechanisms, vehicle movement dynamics and electronic control. The exhibitors, of whom 70 per cent come from abroad, are looking for partners from industry and commerce worldwide. Many of them will be presenting their range of products for the original equipment market as well as for the aftersales market. These so-called second or third tier suppliers will be targeting their new products towards large firms who supply the motor manufacturers. Important manufacturers such as, for example, Webasto AG, BERU AG, MANN + HUMMEL GMBH, Siemens VDO Trading GmbH, Visteon Deutschland GmbH, WAECO International GmbH, Continental Teves AG & Co. ohG, VALEO Service SAS, ZF Friedrichshafen AG and Hella KGaA Hueck & Co will be showing new technologies and new services. Hartmut Röhl, Chairman of the Federal Association of the Automotive Parts Trade (Gesamtverband Autoteile e.V. – the GVA), speaks for the whole of the German autoparts industry as he looks forward with high hopes to Automechanika: “The trade fair is and continues to be the key destination for all those who want a compact overview, in a single location, of trends and innovations in the vehicle repair and spare parts market – and on an international scale at that. At the same time, the fair not only offers insights into product trends, but it also throws light on the continuing development of market structures.” The German Association of the Independent Spare Parts Market, too, (Verein Freier Ersatzteilemarkt e.V.), an important partner of Automechanika, is represented by a large number of member companies. Chairman, Josef Rehage, promises: “ Our firms have brought many product and service innovations in their suitcases – some of them world firsts.” A high rate of innovation is characteristic of the automotive supply sector; companies invest constantly in research and development and seek to meet the demands of the vehicle manufacturers with more and more up-to-date innovations. Among the current trends to be seen at Automechanika are, for example, multimedia equipment, electronic driver assistance systems such as ESP (electronic stabilisation program), electronic distance sensors and fault diagnosis. On 13 and 14 September 2006 HA Hessen Agentur GmbH is organising an international “co-operation exchange” for some 200 companies from the automotive supply sector in the “Saal Europa” in Hall 4.0. This project, called “europe autoparts”, is an initiative of the European Commission and supports small to medium-sized companies in the search for new business partners in Eastern and Western Europe. Further information can be obtained from HA Hessen Agentur GmbH, The Euro Info Center, Ms Christina Deyl, telephone number: +49 / 611 – 774 8372 and on the Internet at: www.europeautoparts.com A positive mood is in evidence, even before the fair begins – particularly among German suppliers. Suppliers of parts, systems and components added an average of 10.5 percent to their turnover in 2005. A current poll by the GVA (Federal Association of the Automotive Parts Trade) also points to a satisfactory development in the independent vehicle service market. According to this, 83 per cent of those polled indicated increasing sales for the first half of 2006 when compared to the same period in the previous year. Indeed more than 86 per cent are reckoning on an increase for the whole of 2006. Not only this, but there are optimistic signs from Brussels about a further freeing-up of the spare parts market, according to GVA Chairman Röhl. Not a bad basis for a successful Automechanika in 2006!
