Automechanika Argentina 2006 sets new exhibitor and visitor records
First Match Making Programme highly popular
The fourth Automechanika Argentina, South America's International Automotive Trade Fair from Design to Maintenance and Recycling, closed its doors on 18 November 2006 after a highly successful four-day run. 537 exhibitors – around 120 more than in 2004 – presented their innovations to over 40,000 trade visitors – approximately 9,000 more than in 2004 – at the fully booked-up La Rural Exhibition Centre. The visitors travelled to Buenos Aires from 48 countries. Almost 20 percent of exhibitors came from outside Argentina. The biggest exhibitor nations besides Argentina were Germany, Brazil, the USA and Italy. Stephan Kurzawski, Automechanika Brand Manager: "Automechanika Argentina gave an impressive demonstration of its leading position in the South American market for original and replacement parts and for workshop and filling-station equipment. The confidence we showed in the Argentinian market six years ago has paid off. Automechanika Argentina is one of the most successful events we organise anywhere in the world outside Germany." The number of exhibitors and visitors has more than doubled since the launch of Automechanika Argentina in 2000. The fair was accompanied by an extensive fringe programme. For the first time, Indexport Messe Frankfurt and the ExportAr Foundation organised the 'First International Round of Car-Part Buyers'. Altogether, the organisers arranged over 350 meetings within the framework of this match-making event. At the same time, AFAC, the Argentinian Automotive Parts Association, held a seminar entitled 'The Future of the Car and its Impact on the Car-Parts Manufacturing Industry'. Messe Frankfurt also launched its successful 'Messe Frankfurt against copying” campaign in Argentina, which gave exhibitors the chance to find out how to take steps against product piracy. The next Automechanika Argentina will be held from 12 to 15 November 2008.
