Expansion of CeBIT 'Telematics & Navigation' sector
CeBIT 2007, 15 March to 21 March
Complete telematics chain to be presented for first time at CeBIT
New 'eLogistics Network' pavilion
ADAC Driver Safety Training Center to demonstrate T&N systems in the field 'Telematics & Navigation' - one of the prime topics at the last CeBIT, is being further expanded. The upcoming installment of CeBIT (running from 15-21 March 2007) showcases the entire telematics chain, from data acquisition to end devices. Another exciting new feature involves the 'eLogistics Network' group pavilion, and the ADAC Driver Safety Training Center is being integrated into CeBIT for the first time ever, presenting systems shown in Hall 11 in practical application at its nearby driver education course. Exhibitors in the 'Telematics & Navigation' sector include BMW, Garmin Europe, GPS-Buddy, Map & Guide, Navteq Europe, Navigon, PTV and Tom Tom. CeBIT is the only trade fair to offer such a comprehensive display of telematics and navigation themes. The individual stages of the telematics chain include data capture and processing, information production and transmission, and display of that information on end devices. One example: a freeway traffic jam is identified and localized by GPS, video sensor or detector, relayed to a traffic management station, processed and enriched with information by a content provider, then transmitted to navigation devices via service providers using GPRS or UMTS. The new 'eLogistics Network' pavilion makes its debut at the upcoming event. Exhibitors there will cover all sectors of the logistics supply chain, presenting their IT and telecom products and services. The organizers of this group pavilion are Logistic Network Consultants, based in Münster, Germany and Hannover, Germany. New input on the European satellite navigation project GALILEO will also be available at the show, with a first-ever group pavilion on the topic. Anyone who is interested in witnessing T&N systems live in action can take a shuttle bus from the exhibition site directly to the nearby ADAC Driver Safety Training Center. Practical demonstrations there will be given on a daily basis, including topics like car-to-car communication and driver assistance. The 'ICT in Motion' special show, featuring traffic telematics providers and the 'CeBIT in Motion' forum, will be back at CeBIT 2007. The forum will showcase two topic clusters every day of the show. The cooperation partners behind the forum are BITKOM - the Berlin-based German Association for Information Technology, Telecommunications and New Media and ZVEI - the Frankfurt-based German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association as well as the Lower Saxony Telematics Initiative (Landesinitiative Telematik). 'Telematics & Navigation' is a big favorite among CeBIT visitors. At CeBIT 2006, more than 82,000 visitors reported expecting this topic to grab their attention in the future.
