Couromoda 35 years will have a special edition
Created by entrepreneur Francisco Santos back in 1973, Couromoda celebrates 35 years at the January 2008 edition. During that period the fair has been a major player in the processes of changes and professionalism of the footwear market in Brazil, participating actively in all the phases of the sector over the three and a half decades.
Couromoda was the first Brazilian fair to be held in a consuming center, at the time, the city of Rio de Janeiro. “After two years working and striving to implement the project, the first edition was held in February 1975 at the Hotel Nacional, with 48 exhibitors. The results proved that a new stage of completely new promotion and sales for the footwear industry had started”, says Francisco Santos, president and founder of the fair.
After holding two yearly editions in 75 and 76, the fair reaches its 35th edition the very same year it celebrates the 35th anniversary of the foundation of a conceptual project that modified completely the commercialization and marketing of the whole leather footwear industry, especially in the areas of footwear and leathergoods.
Betting on the force of marketing of its exhibitors and in a strong commercial promotion, Couromoda soon became a major event. Today the brand clearly identified with the excellence of the footwear market, acknowledged in Brazil and abroad for the professionalism of its operation and for innovative characteristics of it initiatives.
Leader in Latin America, Couromoda is currently the 4th more important sectorial event in the world, thus placing the city of São Paulo in the business calendar of all the major international events.
Couromoda 2008, to be held from January 14th to 17th, will house more than 1.100 exhibitors, among which all the leading Brazilian brands of footwear, bags, sports goods. The event will be spread over the whole complex of the Anhembi Park, in São Paulo.
And to commemorate the 35 years of existence, Couromoda has prepared many actions for this second semester, aiming at domestic and international markets and an ample program of celebrations for the 2008 edition.
