Expoquimia, Equiplast and Eurosurfas make up the leading applied chemistry event of the Mediterranean

Taking place from the 14th to the 18th November 2005 in the Gran Vía exhibition centre, EXPOQUIMIA, EQUIPLAST and EUROSURFAS, organised by Fira de Barcelona, are dedicated to the chemical, plastics and rubber and surface treatment sectors, respectively. The affinity existing between these sectors and the connection between their different professional applications converge in this complete event to make up the Leading Applied Chemistry Event of the Mediterranean, which is held in Barcelona every three years.

According to the economic report prepared by Fira de Barcelona on the occasion of EXPOQUIMIA, production in the European chemical industry is expected to rise by 1.9% in 2006. The growth of the chemical sector in Spain continues to be driven by a strong domestic demand, internationalisation and the increased capacity of companies. Predictions for 2005 set growth in production at 5.8%, similar to the increase recorded in 2004.

 

The Spanish plastics industry, represented in the EQUIPLAST trade fair, increased production by 4.8% in 2004, while rubber output rose by 3.7%. The European machinery for plastics and rubber sector rose 2.6%.

 

With regard to EUROSURFAS, production in the Spanish paints market rose 1.5% in 2004. With a market quota of 46%, electroplating is expected to continue to lead the surface treatment industry, which has an average annual growth rate of 7.4% and could reach $30.3 billion by 2010. 

 

Between them, EXPOQUIMIA, International Chemistry Fair; EQUIPLAST, International Plastics and Rubber Fair, and EUROSURFAS, International Paints and Surface Treatments Fair, add up to more than 4,300 companies (direct exhibitors and represented firms), which will exhibit their new products in the whole of the Gran Vía exhibition centre, pavilions 1, 2, 3 and 4. 66,596 m² net exhibition space have been booked, 5% more than in 2002. 

 

EXPOQUIMIA, EQUIPLAST y EUROSURFAS are trade fairs of Fira de Barcelona, the leading organiser of industrial and professional exhibitions in Spain and one of the first four in Europe in number of events.
