Hannover Messe 2008: Energy issues on the up

The issue of climate protection is on everyone's lips. People are looking in particular to politicians to provide sustainable solutions, take tough decisions, and ensure global commitment. However, cutting-edge technology, the ultra-efficient use of conventional energy resources, and the integration of alternative energies with a view to a sustainable, forward-looking energy mix are all equally important aspects of the ongoing fight against global warming

HANNOVER MESSE recognized the importance of this issue several years ago and incorporated it into the framework of a comprehensive exhibition portfolio. Since then, the world's best-known industrial trade fair has established itself as a central platform for international energy technologies and an industry meeting point for high-profile representatives from business, politics, and industry.

In 2008, the energy technology summit meeting will be joined by a third leading international trade fair - Power Plant Technology. This show covers technologies and concepts on all aspects of power station construction. The already firmly established leading world trade fair Energy provides a comprehensive overview of the very latest services and technologies from the entire energy efficiency supply chain. Pipeline Technology focuses on the exploration, transportation, and distribution of oil, gas, and water. A new focal point for next year will be the growing LNG market.

The three leading energy fairs are also complemented by the third WORLD ENERGY DIALOGUE from 22 to 23 April 2008. Energy experts from across the world will be discussing "Innovative Power Plant Concepts" in a debate chaired by Prof. Klaus Töpfer.

These energy-related topics have also enjoyed an exceptionally positive response from visitors and exhibitors. Exhibitor numbers are continuously rising - in 2007 the exhibition area grew by 30 percent on the previous year, reaching 5,000 square meters. What's more, Energy achieved record visitor figures this year, with 104,000 people attending the event.
