Hanseboot 2007: Big, modern and attractive as never before
New fair site welcomes Hanseboot visitors
48th Hamburg International Boat Show at the Hamburg Fair site and at the hanseboot harbour, from 27 October to 4 November 2007
The hanseboot is changing its appearance more than ever before. The course for the 48th Hamburg International Boat Show from 27 October to 4 November 2007 is set by a growing and appealing trade fair site. Five of the new halls will already be in use for the hanseboot 2007, and the new fair site is scheduled for final completion at the end of 2008. This year the exhibition space will already be increased by a further 5000 sqm to 78,000 sqm in a total of 11 exhibition halls, plus the hanseboot harbour. There are two new entrance areas to welcome visitors to the A site, to the west of Karolinenstrasse. The four exhibition halls on the A site give ideal conditions for watersport fans to admire fast motor boats in Hall A3 and luxurious motor yachts in A4. This is the place for dreams and realities - with world premieres, brilliant in their speed and luxury design, to fascinate visitors.
From the motor yachts, the exhibition continues with the series-built sailing yachts in the "Sailing Hall" A1 (clear height of 18 metres), and the one-off sailing yachts in A2 (clear height 13 metres). Sailing yachts of all different sizes are on display on a total of 14,000 sqm. From there, a generously sized glass-enclosed pedestrian bridge provides the link with the B site, to the east of Karolinenstrasse. The new hall B6 welcomes visitors with equipment and accessories on 13,000 sqm of space. This is the largest of the exhibition halls, and is known as the "Equipment Hall" - for display of engines, sails, masts, outfitting, clothing, paints and varnishes, in fact everything a skipper needs for the season.
There are some 900 exhibitors from 30 nations presenting more than 1200 boats and yachts from 27 October to 4 November - perfect timing for placement of orders for the summer season 2008. There will be numerous boat premieres, from the entry level right up to high-class ocean-going yachts, plus new international developments in equipment and accessories. There will be thematic zones and a sophisticated and highly appealing supporting programme, with plenty of advice and service, both for new boat owners and for experienced watersports enthusiasts. There will also be very large sailing and motor yachts mooring in the hanseboot harbour. A shuttle bus is provided to ferry visitors between the trade fair site and the hanseboot harbour at Baumwall.
There will be a total of six thematic zones, each addressing a special-interest area. The hanseboot CLASSICS will be expanded, in response to the strong demand at the premiere last year. Retro-yachts and classic yachts will be in the limelight there, attracting a lot of attention again. The hanseboot Dinghy Centre will likewise be expanded, taking a whole exhibition hall for the first time - that is Hall 8, giving an overview of the most important classes of boat and offerings by the various clubs, associations and schools for young enthusiasts and new entrants.
The hanseboot FREE Beach Lounge in Hall 7 will be colourful and trendy, with kiting, surfing, diving, wakeboarding and waterskiing. The hanseboot LIVEDECK was a wonderful wet attraction last year for bold seafarers. In 2007 they will have another chance to try out watersports clothing, on an even larger LIVEDECK, under authentic weather conditions with wind and water. Brand new clothing and shoes from the major manufacturers will be available for testing.
Sailing and boating areas throughout the world will be at the centre of attention at the hanseboot CHARTER CONSULTING on the upper floor of Hall B3. The advisers there are exclusively experienced sailors and experts in the relevant cruising waters, to help visitors plan their holiday cruises. Advance registration is recommended for these free-of-charge consulting sessions, at www.hanseboot.de. The hanseboot FISHING FORUM focuses on the latest equipment and accessories for sea and inland fishing.
Art maritim is dedicated to presentation of maritime art. The upper floor of Hall B2 provides space for some 30 contemporary marine artists and gallery owners to present their works related to the sea and watersports.
The Yacht Champions' Championship is traditionally held in parallel to hanseboot, on the Alster at the opening weekend. This is the 28th time that Germany's best sailors will be meeting to compete for the hanseboot Cup.
Alongside the usual East Entrance in St. Petersburger Strasse and the South Entrance on the corner of Vor dem Holstentor, there will be another two entrances available for the hanseboot 2007. Trade visitors arriving by underground train U3 or by S-Bahn can use Sternschanze station, and from there it is less than 3 minutes' walk to the West Entrance. Those who travel by car and use the multi-storey car park in Lagerstrasse can use the Central Entrance in Karolinenstrasse, which is the fastest way for them to get to the fair.
