Düsseldorf: The World of Nano-Technology meets in June 2007
Europe’s largest professional conference for nano-technology is coming to Düsseldorf. 1,500 participants are expected at the CCD. Congress Center Düsseldorf from 19 to 21 June 2007.
The EuroNanoForum 2007 is the third international conference of the nano-technology sector, this time focusing specifically on industrial application potential. The initial kick-off meeting took place in 2003 in Triest (Italy), followed by another event in Edinburgh (Great Britain) in 2005. The event is organised by the Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF) and the EU Commission in connection with the German EU Council Presidency 2007. The BMBF has transferred the organisation as to contents to its project carrier, VDI Technologiezentrum GmbH in Düsseldorf. “The decision to hold the event in Düsseldorf supports us in our aspiration to become THE location for knowledge, patent and application transfer on the topic of nano-technology in Europe”, explains Werner M. Dornscheidt, President & CEO of Messe Düsseldorf, and praises the excellent acquisition results of DüsseldorfCongress. “After entering into a strategic cooperation with the organiser of the largest trade fair on the topic of nano-technology in Europe, Olma Messen St. Gallen, we will be able to present two highlights in June 2007.” Running concurrently with the trade fairs GIFA / METEC / THERMPROCESS / NEWCAST, an application-oriented NanoEurope-Innovation Park, focussing on the business sectors of foundries, metallurgy, thermo-processing technology and cast products, will be held from 12 to 16 June 2007. Approximately 70,000 visitors are expected at these trade fairs. As a second highlight, the EuroNanoForum, will be held one week later from 19 to 21 June 2007. These numerous event activities of Messe Düsseldorf in the area of nano and micro technology are “given wing” by the latest decision of the German government to expand its innovation policy. Support of future-oriented projects is supposed to increase by 14 percent to € 2.62 billion in 2007, with a total expenditure of just under € 15 billion by the year 2009. € 860 million of this amount alone are earmarked for the promotion of nano-technology and micro-systems technology as the outstanding impulse generators for product development across all industry sectors.
