Messe Frankfurt to introduce Automechanika in Moscow

First-time cooperation with ITE Expo Automechanika Moscow the gateway to Eastern Europe

Messe Frankfurt and the ITE Group will be working together in the future to stage Automechanika Moscow, which will be held for the first time from 13 to 16 May 2007 at the international "Crocus Expo" exhibition venue. Automechanika Moscow, the trade fair for automotive parts, equipment and service suppliers, will be an annual event. The ITE Group has an established portfolio of successful trade fairs in Russia. Automechanika Moscow extends Messe Frankfurt's portfolio for the automotive industry and takes the number of Automechanika fairs organised by the company to ten events in nine countries.
Detlef Braun, member of the Management Board of Messe Frankfurt, says: "The industry has long wanted an Automechanika in Moscow, the focal point of the fast-growing Russian automobile market. And we've now found the right strategic partner for this venture. ITE is well-established as an organiser of trade fairs in Russia. Together, we are confident that we will succeed in the long term in developing Automechanika Moscow into a central automotive event that serves as a gateway to Eastern Europe for international exhibitors."
ITE Chief Executive, Ian Tomkins said. “This relationship is ideal for both Messe Frankfurt and ITE. Our infrastructure and expertise in organising international trade exhibitions in Russia is unparalleled. The combined strength of the Automechanika brand internationally, positive market conditions and ITE’s experience in the automotive sector will contribute towards a very powerful, industry leading event.”
Automechanika Moscow will be Messe Frankfurt's second Automechanika in Russia: Auto & Automechanika in St. Petersburg has been a great success for a number of years now. The most recent event boasted 387 exhibitors and over 82,000 visitors, including 18,340 trade buyers. Braun says the two fairs ideally complement one another, as Russia is a big, dynamic market with the potential for two fairs. Auto + Automechanika St. Petersburg is a motor show with an Automechanika product portfolio tailored to the requirements of the Russian northwest and the Baltic. Automechanika Moscow is a pure "business to business" fair covering the classic Automechanika range – parts, accessories and repair shop and service station equipment. The event is designed to open up the Russian and Eastern European market for national and international companies looking to identify potential partners for joint ventures and expand their business networks.   The Russian market is booming, and last year's automobile sales were already 30 percent up on 2001. Today, fewer than one in five Russians drives a car, but experts believe this ratio will increase to more than one in four by 2010. The producers forecast major potential for the Russian and Eastern European market. Many car makers and suppliers are ready and waiting to gain a foothold in Russia's regional markets.
Automechanika Academy, Messe Frankfurt's conference brand for the automotive sector, will be held parallel to Automechanika Moscow. Experts will be discussing topical issues in the automotive sector like growth markets or technical innovations.
