New CeBIT concept ready for takeoff in 2008
More user-centric than ever
Greater tradeshow efficiency for exhibitors and visitors
New thematic layout geared to target user interests
New service offerings to help exhibitors save time and money
The new CeBIT concept is ready for takeoff and – in the words of Ernst Raue as the Deutsche Messe board member in charge of CeBIT – the 2008 show is gearing up to “underscore its outstanding role as the digital community’s No. 1 marketplace”. Not only will the new-look CeBIT be more user-centric than ever, but it will also offer maximum efficiency in terms of thematic layout, duration and added-value services.
CeBIT 2008 has been completely revamped and shaped around the following primary fields of visitor interest: Business Solutions Public Sector Solutions Home & Mobile Solutions The uniting theme of Technology & Infrastructure will interface with all of the above. What’s more, the following new showcases will be making their debut as part of CeBIT 2008: Learning & Knowledge Solutions, Consulting & Services and “design: driving innovation”.
Starting next March, CeBIT will be more compact, running for only six days long instead of seven. As a result, instead of running from Thursday through Wednesday as in the past, the show will start on a Tuesday (March 4) and end on a Sunday (March 9).
New thematic layout geared to target user interests One of the aims of the new CeBIT concept is to bring exhibitors and potential buyers and users together more efficiently. This will be achieved by means of themes which have been regrouped to make it more convenient for visitors to find everything of interest to them in a more compact area.
For visitors interested in cross-sectional backbone technologies, the Technology & Infrastructure display is an absolute must.
Business Solutions: Successful strategies to secure a competitive edge Business Solutions focuses on the optimization of business processes and ICT solutions for all users from industry, the skilled trades and the service industries. CeBIT is the only trade show worldwide that showcases the entire range of solutions for the control and management of operational and business processes – and the interplay of these processes – at one convenient time and place. Numerous themed presentations offer additional benefits and value to the respective business communities. For example, decision-makers in IT will find a wealth of information on service-oriented architecture in the SOA World, and there’s a lot to learn about how to improve client management in the CRM Arena (Customer Relationship Management). For small and medium-sized companies the first port of call is likely to be the special CeBIT forum for SMEs, while visitors from personnel/human resources departments will be interested in the Human Resources Forum. There is also a special Banking & Finance area, where visitors from this sector can catch up on all the latest information and developments. Trade visitors from every sector will find something of interest in the display “future parc”, which takes a look at the shape of things to come.
Another new feature at CeBIT 2008 will be the Consulting & Services display, which portrays IT services in context, as integrated parts of the value-added chain. Experts full-service providers, as well as operational and technology consultants will be on hand to give visitors best-practice advice and tips on integration, implementation and outsourcing.
In response to a survey of visitors at CeBIT 2007, Deutsche Messe will be launching a dedicated eLearning display at CeBIT 2008. The survey revealed that more than 95,000 trade visitors were specifically interested in this topic. The new Learning & Knowledge Solutions section will feature Government Learning, Mobile Learning, HR Self-Service Solutions, Simulation, Certification and Best Practice Applications. A rotating series of talks and lectures will also be held on a daily basis.
Public Sector Solutions: New power for public administration Public-sector ICT users will naturally gravitate to the Public Sector Solutions display which covers topics such as eGovernment solutions (municipal, regional, federal and pan-EU), new eHealth applications, geo-information management, education and training. Only CeBIT presents the entire spectrum of ICT solutions for the public sector, covering everything from local government to the needs of the European parliament.
Following its successful debut in 2007, the TeleHealth congress and exhibition will become part of CeBIT, where it will put a bright spotlight on eHealth applications. Next year’s theme will be “ICT solutions in the health sector”. On two days of the show (Friday, 7 and Saturday, 8 March) telemedical applications and ICT solutions for the entire health sector will for the first time be presented together at one central location (Hall 8).
Home & Mobile Solutions: Hardware for commerce, industry and home offices The display category Home & Mobile Solutions will showcase a broad range of ICT products and solutions for everyday application in the home and work environment. This CeBIT display is not merely confined to exhibiting the respective technologies and applications – it will also highlight the potential for networking. The focus will be on the benefits to users, in particular the key target groups from commerce and industry, as well as small businesses, the self-employed and freelancers.
Distributors and retailers will head first to the impressive displays of PCs and notebooks, mobile communications, imaging & printing, consumer electronics and interactive entertainment. Next year, the central meeting-point for this visitor target group will again be Planet Reseller – the trade channel hub.
Visitors looking for telecommunications solutions will find everything they need under Telematics & Navigation, Automotive Solutions, Transport & Logistics as well as Mobile Devices, Carriers & Providers. A highlight of the exhibition program will be the “CeBIT in Motion” forum, which is dedicated to telematics and navigation, the automotive industry and transport and logistics.
Another new feature at the next CeBIT will be the special presentation “design: driving innovation”, which aims at the visualization of brand competence and innovativeness. The idea is not only to show innovative design but also to develop networks between companies, designers, architects and interior designers. The keynote themes are materials, universal design, room for living/room for dreaming, lifestyle, eco design, healthcare and mobility.
New service offerings to help exhibitors save time and money The range of services available to exhibitors has been upgraded and extended for maximum tradeshow ROI. For example, every exhibitor is now entitled to a number of complimentary admission tickets (based on the size of the stand booked) for distribution to customer and potential leads – all at an attractive, lump-sum rate. Complimentary tickets are a powerful way for companies to boost traffic to their stands and derive the greatest possible benefit from their tradeshow appearance. Deutsche Messe also offers another high-yield service to attract more visitors: the online Deutsche Messe mailing service. With just a few mouse clicks, exhibitors can initiate a large-scale mailshot campaign to highlight their goods and servers to potential visitors, or to invite leads to come and see them at the show. A Deutsche Messe database helps exhibitors easily target the right groups, and the system also allows for the use of any addresses the exhibitor may already have.
To make it a cinch for exhibitors to capture, track and follow up on leads generated at the show, Deutsche Messe also offers LeadSuccess, which includes a business card scanner, a barcode scanner for badges and admission tickets, plus software for storing and managing all the captured data. Thanks to its new, improved design, the CeBIT website enables visitors and anyone interested in CeBIT to search online for exhibiting companies, their products and solutions more quickly and efficiently than ever before. The site now also gives exhibitors more space in which to highlight their offerings and expertise.
