Quality and modernity at EXPORT HOME
At the 19th edition of EXPORT HOME, which ended on Sunday 4th March, at EXPONOR, Portuguese furniture excelled for its quality and modernity.
The 400 exhibitors present, distributed over a 53 thousand square metre area, presented to the 36 956 visitors, including 2 099 from abroad, the best that Portugal has to offer the sector. Once again, Spain leads the ranking of foreign visitors, followed by France, Belgium, Italy and Russia. «The international promotion efforts were a success. The organisers of EXPORT HOME, together with APIMA and ICEP, invited over 200 entrepreneurs with a strong potential for the national market», mentions António Proença, director of the exhibition. The 2007 edition included a visit by the Assistant Secretary of State for Industry and Innovation, António Castro Guerra. During his visit to the exhibition, this governor commented on how the furniture sector has evolved in the right direction, thanks to diversification and the «temporal progress which pays tribute to innovation, design and the intelligence of designers», values which were, according to Castro Guerra, present at the exhibition. He also highlighted the importance of international markets, in increasing production and vigour, and of the creative interaction between companies and the state. Due to this partnership, the furniture market is on the right track to meeting the demands it faces, both at a domestic and a foreign level.
