Excellent prospects for Veteco at its tenth edition
Presentation of the fair in Barcelona, which will feature the participation of some 138 Catalan exhibitors The fair will host the staging of a packed Programme of Trade Meetings and Activities
Last 19th April, the Head of the International Window, Curtain Walls and Structural Glass Trade Show, VETECO 2006, Santiago Quiroga, presented the tenth edition of the fair in Barcelona. VETECO 2006 will take place between 10th and 13th May 2006 at Feria de Madrid. The presentation event also featured the attendance of the Head of the Spanish Association of Window and Light Façade Manufacturers, ASEFAVE, Roberto González de Zárate. ASEFAVE sponsors the trade show. This presentation provided a preview of the fair's participation figures: 544 direct exhibitors, 781 represented companies and a contracted net exhibition area measuring some 43,470 square metres, which represents an increase of 5% compared to the previous edition in the year 2004. In this respect, the entire business sector of the window and structural glass industry will be faithfully reflected at VETECO, given that all the leading companies within the field will take part in the event. In particular, we might highlight the strong level of representation on the part of companies from Catalonia, featuring a total (up to early April) of 138 confirmed exhibitors. We might also highlight the significant foreign participation at the fair, consisting of 68 exhibiting companies from some 14 different countries, with the number of participants, in order of importance, being especially high in the cases of Italy, Portugal and Germany. This figure confirms the growing international stature of the fair. VETECO has established itself as a the leading Spanish fair for the industry and one of the top events in Europe within the field of window and structural glass manufacturing, both in terms of its participation figures and in terms of the professional level and quality of the exhibition that is presented. Thus, in addition to the strong contribution made by the exhibiting companies, the trade show also enjoys the backing of the main representative bodies from the industry, including the various professional colleges and the Spanish Association of Window and Light Façade Manufacturers, ASEFAVE. VETECO provides a faithful overview of the Spanish industry, which is currently the second most important manufacturer of windows in Europe, producing some 12.5 million units in the year 2005, which represents 10% of the total European production figure in that year. The industry's turnover came to 4,000 million euros. Apart from these production figures, the recently approved Technical Building Code (CTE) will help to boost the quality of Spanish products still further, as reflected by the exhibition presented at VETECO 2006. This exhibition will feature the very latest in windows and façades of all kinds, as well as ceilings and skylights, enclosing structures, machinery, tools and accessories, automatic systems, coverings, solar protection products, doors, silicone products ... The fair will present products ranging from energy-saving solar protection materials to blinds that are resistant to Force 5 Gales (similar to Katrina, which devastated New Orleans last year), not to mention a spectacular Ferrari F 430, whose chassis is made of the same type of highly-resistant and light-weight aluminium that is used for manufacturing windows, among many other interesting new features. Specialised Conferences The trade exhibition will be complemented by an extensive Programme of Trade Meetings, along with presentations of various awards in recognition of outstanding achievement within this economic sector. Thus, the ASEFAVE Specialised Conferences will enable participants to analyse the current state of the industry, focusing on an aspect of considerable relevance and importance today: "Windows and Structural Glass in the Technical Building Code and in Building Energy Certification Regulations". The Technical Building Code (CTE) presents a regulatory framework that establishes a series of minimum standards regarding quality, safety and habitability in buildings, with a view to bringing construction into line with sustainable economic, energy and environmental development. Alongside AENOR, ASEFAVE, at the Certified Quality Stand, will also present all of the products at the fair that have achieved AENOR's "N" Brand certificate. This is another initiative which proved to be highly successful at the previous edition in 2004, aimed at promoting product quality. The same desire to provide a boost to the industry underlies the staging of the VETECO / ASEFAVE Awards, now in their seventh edition, featuring the various different categories of Best Window, Best Light Façade, Best End-of-Degree Project and Most innovative Product. All of the products that are entered for the Competition will make up a separate exhibition within the framework of the fair. Furthermore, VETECO will host the staging of the third edition (the first edition within the framework of the fair, given that the previous two took place at CONSTRUTEC and OFITEC) of the Stands Design Competition, organised by the Official College of Architects of Madrid, COAM. Professionals will be able to gain access to VETECO between 10th and 13th May from 10.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m., except for the last day of the fair, when the event will close at 4.00 p.m. On the same dates, the International Window, Curtain Walls and Structural Glass Trade Show will coincide with the International Natural Stone Fair, PIEDRA 2006, one of the leading points of reference within the stone industry. In this respect, these two events will present a marvellous trade showcase for the building industry as a whole.
